Job description

We are looking for an Associate Art Director, to work closely with the Art Director and studio and development teams to drive the visual quality, consistency, and innovation across our simulation titles. You'll be responsible for supporting art direction, and ensuring assets align with the creative vision of projects. 

This is a fantastic opportunity for a lead level artist looking to step into a leadership role and influence the artistic direction of our Train Sim World titles and beyond.  

Our ideal candidate will have a good understanding of all art disciplines, with a focus on concept art and the ability to guide the teams through style guides and paint overs.

Job requirements

  • Collaborate with the Art Director to develop and maintain vision across projects

  • Take ownership and propose visual direction on projects when needed

  • Contribute to the creation of style guides, visual benchmarks, and documentation

  • Support and guide internal and external art teams in delivering assets that meet style and quality expectations

  • Review art assets for quality, coherence, and performance across platforms

  • Provide hands-on support across the art teams

  • Mentor artists and provide feedback

What we look for in you:

Required:

  • Experience in a lead role within the games industry

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating an understanding of colour, shape and composition

  • Solid understanding of game art pipelines and workflows

  • Ability to give clear, constructive feedback and support a collaborative team culture

  • Experience mentoring artists and working with skills development

 

Preferred:

  • Experience as a concept artist on a realistic title

  • Experience working in Unreal Engine 5

  • Familiarity with asset optimisation and performance constraints on multiple platforms

  • Experience working with third party vendors or co-dev
